Welcome to my blog. Much like the rest of my life, it's still a work in progress, but you're very welcome to take a look around. I hope you like what you see and read. And if you don't... That's why the comments are disabled.

Last monthly playlist before we devolve into festivities

Last monthly playlist before we devolve into festivities

Some people believe it's ok to begin playing Christmas music mid-way through October. I am not that person. But I will confess that I couldn't wait to listen to Chance the Rapper's Christmas album.

I did not include that in this month's playlist though, as the album artwork wasn't pink. For some reason I don't remember, I decided to begin my November playlist on a rather arbitrary theme: pink album artwork.

I didn't stick to it very rigidly before long, but it was a good jumping off point.

I was initially inspired by Curtis Harding's music, which lead me to Amy Winehouse's first album, "Frank", and subsequently her second, which also has some very subtle pink accents on the cover. By then I began thinking of some of the many albums which have some awesome pink (or somewhere in the pink family — reds and purples were not excluded) covers, like Father John Misty's "I Love You, Honeybear", "Graduation", by Kanye West, "Coloring Book" and "Acid Rap", by Chance, and "Telefone", by Noname.

Childish Gambino has a pink album, Jayden Smith's new album (which has a couple of entertaining numbers, as you'd expect) has pink on it, the catchy "Boys" by Charlie XCX, "Currents" by Tame Impala, and dvsn's two albums, which I'd been getting into at the beginning of the month. Not to mention Harry Styles' or Jay-Z's 2017 albums (the latter of which has pinky undertones), which I'll obviously take any excuse to shove on a playlist.

Some highlights for me were songs by Aminé, who had an excellent Tiny Desk concert recently, new music from NAO — who Lia and I saw in concert in Boston last year — and a few excellently chill guitar licks from bands No Vacation and Jesse Rutherford that really stuck a smooth chord with me.

I'm super excited to put together one of my favorite songs this year to share. But first, cue the Buble!
