Hi.

Welcome to my blog. Much like the rest of my life, it's still a work in progress, but you're very welcome to take a look around. I hope you like what you see and read. And if you don't... That's why the comments are disabled.

Back to back 21st birthdays

Back to back 21st birthdays

Just as I was beginning to recover from 10 days of driving with little to no lumbar support, both of my roommates decided to turn 21.

Before I get to that though, Lia and I went (for her second time) to see the Megacities Asia exhibit at Boston's incredible Museum of Fine Arts. As a former megacity resident with fond memories of it, I'd been excited to see the exhibit for a good while. It didn't disappoint, and it was awesome to spend some quality time back in Boston with my girlfriend.

Best of all, as she'd already seen the exhibit once, we were able to move through it at roughly the same pace. Result!

And as we had the luxury of a free day on a Tuesday, we decided to finally cement our Bostonian status by eating at Neptune Oyster. We only had to wait 10 minutes for a table. Unemployment has its perks!

Hot lobster roll with butter and enough fries to feed the whole North End. It lived up to the hype, but we need to go back to try it cold with mayo, for science's sake.

Then the birthdays began. We toasted Harris at midnight, as he finally entered the beer-buying phase of his life.

The next morning, we filled up our new paddling pool on the deck, picked up some cheap bubbly and orange juice, and sipped mimosas while we dined on Dunkin Donuts on the deck out the back of our apartment. Life was good.

Of course, soundtrack of the summer Chance 3 was playing.

After a suitable quantity of 21st birthday day drinking, we met up with some friends for dinner downtown, near the Royale, where we saw Jack Garratt play. If you haven't heard of him, I highly encourage you to check some of his music out. It was his second time playing in Boston, and his confidence and enjoyment was palpable. He even opened with my favourite song from his new album, so I was feeling pretty good.

It was my second time seeing him this year, and even in a few months he'd improved so much.

Jack's birthday began with an England victory at the Euros at 9 a.m., which he decided to celebrate by hiding in Harris' bed while I yelled at the TV.  He came back out for the last 10 minutes though, so saw me go through the roof when they came back to win a huge game against Wales.

We spent the afternoon breaking in the grill that had been gathering dust in a corner, and made bacon cheeseburgers for all participants that ate meat. Ashley ate the bowl of lettuce we'd been using to decorate the burgers with.

And not a single person has died from food poisoning yet!

Harris and I spent the night watching game 6 of the NBA finals (I'm totally sold on basketball now, and what a time to decide to be interested), and Ashley and I came up with the best game ever: guessing what people we know's weird sex thing is. I haven't laughed so hard in a long time.

Happy summer. Roll on the weekend.
