Hi.

Welcome to my blog. Much like the rest of my life, it's still a work in progress, but you're very welcome to take a look around. I hope you like what you see and read. And if you don't... That's why the comments are disabled.

Another trip to the Gardner museum. Just took photos this time though.

Another trip to the Gardner museum. Just took photos this time though.

It finally seems to have stopped snowing in Boston, and the trees around the city are beginning to bloom. I've never been a particular fan of spring, as I prefer the colour scheme of fall, but I'm so ready for warmer weather this year that I can't get enough. Every blossoming tree thaws my cold dark heart just a smidgen.

But the most impressive blooms of all happen at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, one of my favourite places in the city, as I've mentioned before. The annual hanging nasturtium vines that the gardening team installs are one of the must-do's in Boston, and despite going to the ISG regularly, I'd never caught them before.

The thing is, they die pretty much as soon as they're installed. The horticulturalists spend all year growing them with elaborate methods, only to install these stunning plantings, and then have them quickly die in the environment of the courtyard. I learnt all this in two of my previous times at the Gardner, when I went behind the scenes. You can read about both of those adventures here and here! It's one of my favourite places to report on, as the photos take themselves.

This trip was just for fun, but as I'd dinged my camera and had to send it off to Nikon, I rented a big fancy one from school, and went to play.

I think two of my favourite shots from the day were taken by Lia, who snapped some shots of the statues in the garden like she was paparazzi. The isolation of them made them look weirdly private, despite being on view for all to see.

As we were there, we took a peek around the rest of the museum too.

There was a sound exhibit that Lia checked out while I was busy taking hundreds of photos.

The museum began to close before we were truly done admiring the plants, but we stopped by the greenhouse on the way out. It gets fantastic light, as you'd imagine, so I made a point of taking some photos of my beautiful girlfriend too.

If you want to see more Gardner photos, check out my pieces on it, and a profile I wrote of the former horticulturalist, who is just one of the coolest ladies around.
