Greenery:Unlimited Plant Care Guides
In my current role at Greenery:Unlimited, the world’s first Biophilic Design store, not only do I get to work with plants in a hands on capacity, but I also get to write about them!
Plants are pretty incredible organisms, if you’ve missed the memo of the last few million years, and their care was something I got really into while living in Seattle. I still miss the lushness of the PNW every single day, but my home in Brooklyn certainly isn’t lacking for greens. Lia may even say it could lack a little more.
For G:U, I’ve written press releases and informational signage, customer emails and social media posts, but the most lasting content I worked on was the company’s library of care guides. Free to access on their website, these guides cover the basics of light, water, and care requirements for almost thirty different types of the most common houseplants. One of my first copy tasks after joining the company was to copyedit and revise all of them. It was a big project, and I was working directly in HTML code within Shopify, but the finished product is infinitely more readable, accurate, and understandable for plant parents of all levels. We display these care guides on a touchscreen in the store where they receive dozens of daily in-person interactions, and countless more online as our SEO continues to push them higher up the Google results.
These are a fantastic resource, and as a plant parent myself, one I’m proud to have helped put out into the world.
