This is a music playlist for July creatively titled "July"

So I didn't end up getting round to posting the rest of my New England adventures while I was still a resident. No matter! I'll have them up as soon as I can, but obviously moving across the country has taken up a fair amount of my free time.

We're now in Seattle — or at least, a stone's throw from it. We're staying at my Dad's house in Issaquah, a suburb, until we move into our apartment on Saturday, August 5th. I didn't get a job I'd been interviewing for over a month, but otherwise, we're off to a decent start as west coast residents.

Update complete, here's a post I do have time to put up now. Again, it's late, because I'm incapable of uploading these playlist posts in the month they're relevant to, but here are some songs I've been bopping to this month.

Three albums came out around the turn of the month, and each was excellent in its own way. Lorde's sophomore Melodrama, SZA's Ctrl, and Fleet Foxes' Crack-Up comprised most of my listening material this month, as it encompassed all moods. Upbeat high-quality pop, downtempo sexy R&B, and ethereal folk. Each one is excellent from start to finish, and I recommend them as entire albums in addition to a collection of great songs.

Benjamin Booker's sophomore album released this month too, and it was a lot tamer than his first effort. But it had some awesome protest anthems in there, with his grungy garage sound blended in.

I can't say I've listened to an awful lot of Jay-Z besides his big hits (and my friend Joe's Numb / Encore ringtone he'd blare every time he was getting a call), but his new album is awesome. It's filled with sweeping soul samples, some honest and #sensitive lyrics, just enough references to Lemonade to keep the drama alive, and some genuine bangers.

My friend Andy released an album!! It probably won't share on the Apple Music playlist as it's saved to my desktop, but she released it on SoundCloud, and here's a link so you have no excuse not to go and listen to her angelic voice! She's genuinely brilliant, and such a talent. Please listen to her music!

I also went to school with one of the three people that make up the band London Grammar, who also released their second album this month. The lead singer's voice is just an absolute freight train. The haunting and downbeat music underneath only serves to highlight it. Lia and I were lucky enough to see them when they came to Boston a few years back, so I was really looking forward to new stuff from them. Didn't disappoint!

And then there's a bunch of fun singles and a few throwbacks because it's summer. Gotta groove.

Once I'm back in some sort of schedule and moved into the apartment, I'll try and be better about getting some more stuff up on here. It'll let me feel like I've done something with my day while I look for jobs! Enjoy the music.
